Peace Ambassadors Gala & Grand Ball in Toronto: Art as the Language of Peace

ree

On September 26, 2025, Toronto hosted the grand Peace Ambassadors Gala & Grand Ball, the highlight of the International Peace Festival. This was one of the most significant cultural events of the season, bringing together filmmakers, artists, diplomats, cultural leaders, and representatives of international organizations. More than 300 guests attended, each contributing their voice, perspective, and commitment to the shared mission of promoting peace through art.

The evening featured an award ceremony for films addressing themes of war, peace, resilience, and hope. It was not merely a showcase of cinema but a powerful reminder that art can be a tool for dialogue, understanding, and spiritual strength worldwide.

Women’s leadership and inspiring stories

A remarkable highlight was the film about Jean Augustine, the first Black woman elected to the Canadian Parliament. She was personally present at the gala, and her speech became one of the most inspiring moments of the evening. At 85, Jean Augustine continues to embody women’s leadership, wisdom, and confidence. Her story demonstrates that women not only participate in shaping society but also lead it, changing the destiny of a country and inspiring future generations. For women’s organizations, including Business Woman Pro Canada, her example is particularly valuable — proof that women’s voices know no boundaries.

The Ukrainian focus

Even as Ukraine fights for its very existence, Ukrainian art continues to serve as a voice of resilience and inspiration. At the festival, the documentary “Porcelain War” was presented and honored. Already an Oscar nominee, the film captures how art itself becomes a form of resistance, a safeguard of national identity, and a source of strength for Ukrainians.

The award for the film was received by Oksana Bilozir, People’s Artist of Ukraine and former Minister of Culture, who personally came to Toronto to represent Ukraine. Her presence was a powerful act of cultural diplomacy, showing that despite the trials of war, Ukrainian culture is alive, thriving, and inspiring the world.

The importance of such events

The gala proved that the subject of peace can and should be addressed through art. The organizers accomplished a remarkable mission: creating a space where representatives of different countries came together in the shared pursuit of peace. Events like this build bridges across cultures, nations, and generations.

Quote

“This evening was truly special for me, as I had the honor of officially representing Business Woman magazine, accredited at the festival, as well as the organization Business Woman Pro Canada. For our women’s community, it is important to support such events, because they show that women’s voices — in politics, culture, and the arts — have the power to change the world,” said Nadiya Yashan, Director of Business Woman Magazine in Canada and President of Business Woman Pro Canada.

Special thanks to Angelique Codina, Vice President & Program Director of the International Peace Alliance, for the personal invitation and the excellent organization of the International Peace Festival, which so beautifully united art, culture, and the universal desire for peace.
